Cbanker says no plans for new foreign currency restrictions
MOSCOW, Apr 17 (PRIME) -- Russia’s central bank has no plans to introduce additional foreign currency restrictions, it may only adjust the existing measures, Chairwoman Elvira Nabiullina told the parliament’s lower chamber State Duma on Monday.
“Now no additional small measures are expected here, no foreign currency restrictions. Some fine tuning is possible, … but we think that the system has more or less stabilized,” she said.
The regulator had to introduce tough restrictions on the flow of foreign currency at the beginning of sanctions to stabilize the foreign currency and financial markets. It removed a significant portion of the restrictions after the situation stabilized. It was important because tough foreign currency restrictions hurt the external economic activity, she said.
